Celebrating 6 Years at Kasselman: Scott Stevens

This month, we are highlighting Scott Stevens, our Director of PV Design & Engineering. Scott began his career at Kasselman 6 years ago this August and has since made many improvements and changes within our Design and Engineering processes. We are excited to see his continued contributions and growth with Kasselman in the coming years!
Q: How did you start your career with Kasselman?

A: “It all started with a cold call to Steve Kasselman to set up an interview for the position of Permitting Coordinator. Having 4 years experience in the solar industry, I felt it was worth the inquiry. Two weeks after meeting with Steve, my journey with KS began.”

Q: What is your current position?

A: “Director of PV Design & Engineering. I manage and oversee the drafting of the engineering documents that are submitted to local AHJs for permit approval. Additionally, I manage our Site Assessors, and coordinate with our many suppliers and manufacturers on large-scale projects.”

Q: How has your role evolved over the years?

A: “Slowly stepping away from site design to focus more on the structure and success of the Engineering Department.”

Q: What are some of your proudest accomplishments here?

A: – “Upon starting my role in Design and Engineering, I overhauled the existing site plan process and, in doing so, the monthly average site plan output increased from 18 to 35 on average.”

– “Seeing our designs come to fruition.”

Q: Can you share a valuable lesson or advice that you have learned during your time here?

A: “Don’t rush things. Slower can be faster.”

Q: What do you enjoy most about working at Kasselman?

A: “Our mission, vision and culture.”

Q: What are your future goals/aspirations here?

A: “To evolve with the company and continue to play a role in our innovation.”

Q: Is there any specific advice you would give to someone looking to break into the solar industry?

A: “Since the solar industry is constantly evolving, I find the best approach is with an innovative perspective so you can be prepared to adjust as changes occur.”
