Yes. With solar, Con Edison still sends a monthly bill, but it’s usually much smaller.
Extra power your panels send to the grid earns credits that carry forward month to month. You still pay the customer charge and the Customer Benefit Contribution (CBC), which is $1.29 per kW per month in 2026, or about $10 a month for an 8 kW system. Kasselman Solar shows your expected remaining Con Edison bill in your proposal.
It depends on your roof, shade, how much electricity you use and any electrical work your home needs. Kasselman Solar prices each system from your address and a year of Con Edison bills. New York homeowners can still claim the 25% state solar tax credit (up to $5,000) on a primary home, and in Con Edison territory NYSERDA takes $250 per kWh off a home battery upfront ($450 in disadvantaged communities).
No. Most of Westchester is on Con Edison’s standard grid, but some small areas are on network grids. Homes in those areas need extra engineering review from Con Edison, which can add time or require a service upgrade.
Con Edison pays $100 per kW of your battery’s average performance during summer events, the highest rate of any New York utility program. Events run May 1 through September 30, usually on weekdays between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m., for up to 4 hours. Eligible batteries include Tesla Powerwall 2, Powerwall+ and Powerwall 3, plus select SolarEdge systems.
NYSERDA sets a higher rate in Con Edison territory: $250 per kWh off a home battery, versus $200 in the rest of New York.
Additionally, homes in select disadvantaged communities get $450 per kWh anywhere in the state. Kasselman Solar applies for the incentive and shows it as a discount on your price.
No. Kasselman Solar installs for select Con Edison homeowners in Westchester County, not in New York City. The rate figures on this page are Westchester-specific.

No. A typical Westchester Con Edison bill (600 kWh a month) rose from $142 in 2021 to $209 in 2025. Con Edison’s approved plan adds about $5 a month each year: $5.27 in 2026, $4.94 in 2027 and $4.95 in 2028 (New York PSC example at 425 kWh). Your solar quote is based on your current bills, so those increases only add to what solar saves.
