Solar Installations In The US Reach All-Time High!
In the first three months of the year, the U.S. installed 2.7 GW of solar photovoltaics, making it the most solar ever installed in the first quarter of a year, according to U.S. Solar Market Insight™ report from Solar Energy Industries Association® (SEIA) and Wood Mackenzie Power & Renewables. Results were gathered through a solar-specific analysis of industry professionals through quarterly and annual reports.
Fast facts according to the report:
- More than 13 GW installations expected in 2019 compared to 2018
- 4.7 GW of large-scale projects are under construction
- Residential markets in the U.S. saw 603 MW of installations during the first quarter, which is up 6% annually
- The total installed U.S. PV capacity is expected to more than double over the next five years, with annual installations reaching 16.4 GW in 2021 prior to the expiration of the residential federal investment tax credit and a drop in the commercial tax credit to 10% for projects not yet under construction
